Been working on this for a number of weeks.. just brushing layer upon layer.. unfortunately, when re-sized down you loose almost all of the gas detail, so Click > > Here < < To see some full detail crops
anyway enjoy, it took me ages to make this
This piece is okay. Okay, not your best (nowhere near your best in fact) but that said it still has some nice points. For example the colour has a good glow that works well as well as the superb planet.
However, personally i think the composition is pretty poor - well perhaps jsut the placement of the planet is all that needs fixing in my eye. Also the nebulae/gas lacks any real depth or detail. You can see the odd bit of texture when you look closely - even when looking at the detail shots the 'detail' here is perhaps too subtle. It could be jsut that the density of the starfield masks the detail, but either way it detracts from depth.
Only suggestions I could really make is to make some of the detail more obvious - but not too obvious; this piece has a genuine subtly about it that is almsot alluring. The best thing to do, in my opinion, would be to take into accoutnt he short comings of the piece and remember them when trying to add depth next time
Well, thats my attempt at some constructive criticism.
The planet is great but the nebulae is somehow strange - it looks empty like a gigantic cloud of gas without any life (that means stars) in it - it also seems to be lightened up by some lightsource which isn't visible...kinda strange in my eyes.
However, I'm not an expert for such spacescenes...overall, it is still looking great
